Mode of Action of Cyhalofop-butyl and Metamifop

1. Cyhalofop-butyl (15%)

• Mode of Action:
  Cyhalofop-butyl is a selective herbicide belonging to the aryloxyphenoxypropionate (FOP) group. It inhibits the Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase (ACCase) enzyme, which is essential for fatty acid biosynthesis in plants. This disruption affects cell membrane production, leading to the cessation of growth in grassy weeds. The herbicide is absorbed through the leaves and is translocated to growing points, where it disrupts critical metabolic processes in targeted weeds, causing their gradual death while sparing rice crops.

2. Metamifop (10%)

• Mode of Action:
  Metamifop is another ACCase inhibitor from the phenoxypropionate group, working similarly to Cyhalofop-butyl. It disrupts lipid biosynthesis by inhibiting the ACCase enzyme, essential for the development of cell membranes in grassy weeds. Metamifop has excellent selectivity for rice crops and targets grassy weeds, inhibiting their growth and development. It is absorbed quickly through foliage, providing efficient control over invasive weed populations in rice fields.

Combined Action

The combination of Cyhalofop-butyl and Metamifop provides a synergistic effect, offering broad-spectrum control of grassy weeds by targeting the ACCase enzyme at multiple action points. This dual-action mechanism ensures effective weed suppression while safeguarding the rice crop.
