Hachi-Hachi 15% EC (Tolfenpyrad) is a pyrazole-based insecticide that has demonstrated efficacy against the larval stages (xL3 and L4) of H. contortus in laboratory settings, with IC50 values comparable to those of two widely used anthelmintics, monepantel and moxidectin. As a pesticide, tolfenpyrad exhibits a broad spectrum of activity against various developmental stages—eggs, larvae, nymphs, and adults—of numerous arthropods, including Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, Lepidoptera, Thysanoptera, and Acarina, and has been utilized on a range of infested crops. Originally developed in Japan, this chemical received its first approval in 2002 and has since been registered for commercial use in several countries outside of Japan.Hachi-Hachi SC is specifically formulated to manage a variety of pests, including thrips (notably western flower thrips), aphids, scale insects, leafhoppers, and early instar lepidopteran insects. Furthermore, it provides additional suppression of whiteflies and powdery mildew, as well as Acarina mites. The active ingredients in Hachi-Hachi SC effectively control the eggs, larvae, nymphs, and adults of most targeted insects upon contact or ingestion, leading to an immediate cessation of feeding by the treated pests, thereby mitigating further damage to crops.
